Images from inside Michigan Stadium at U-M's 2011 spring commencement ceremony
By Melanie Maxwell
About 40,000 people this morning attended the University of Michigan's spring commencement ceremony, where Gov. Rick Snyder delivered the keynote address. Here are images from inside the stadium of graduates streaming in, students celebrating their accomplishments, speakers addressing the crowd. These photos were taken by AnnArbor.com's Angela J. Cesere and Melanie Maxwell.

I remember this day for my daughter, and she almost didn't go to graduation since the crowds would be huge and there would be no walking across the stage for her. She was a reluctant MI student, might have been better off at a smaller school really, but she is a proud alumni now, years later. The crowds and huge stadium were part of the excitement and the experience was nearly magical. It didn't rain that year either. Particularly enjoyed the soaring mortarboard image near the end here. Well done. :)

We happen to have one of the top universities in the world in our little county. And today is a celebration for those who have passed through those halls and are going out into the world. Yet this is the only story that doesn't feature a tiny minority who have been whining for a long time about something that has nothing to do with the celebration. A2 dot com does not have its priorities straight. You've tried to make this protest molehill into a mountain for weeks. You apparently failed. Time to drop the campaign.
