University of Michigan Cancer Center launches online forum for cancer patients, survivors

By Juliana Keeping

The University of Michigan Cancer Center launched MCancerTalk.org, which includes forums for those impacted by cancer as well as tips and articles from U-M cancer specialists, officials announced this week.

Posing a question online at the forum will prompt a response from an oncology nurse, U-M physician or other cancer care provider, according to a news release.

The University of Michigan Cancer Center has created mCancertalk.org, a new place for cancer patients, caregivers and survivors to learn and find support online.

The site is open to anyone affected by cancer, not just those treated at U-M. Online membership is free and can remain anonymous. U-M Cancer Center staff will moderate discussion forums.

Along with the blog, the center launched a Twitter feed, @UMCancerCenter, to share information on coping with cancer, cancer research and events. Members can also opt to receive e-mail updates from the blog.
