U-M fans, residents asked to donate blood in 29th annual Blood Battle against OSU
Local residents can show their support for the University of Michigan Wolverines and help those in need by donating blood during the 29th annual U-M vs. OSU Blood Battle this month.
The battle began Thursday and will run through Nov. 19. It consists of 34 blood drives across the U-M campus.
Anyone who attempts to donate blood during the battle will be entered for a chance to win two tickets to the U-M vs. Ohio State University football game Nov. 27 in Columbus.
Mary Rock, Blood Drives United chair and a U-M English senior, said event organizers hope this year's battle will be a third consecutive win for U-M.
Last year, U-M collected 2,449 pints, and OSU collected 2,350 pints, she said.
"It's just a really great way to take some time out of a single day and potentially save multiple lives," Rock said.

Rock said blood drives held in campus residence halls are open only to residents.
