Two young women killed in early-morning Canton Township crash
Two young women from Belleville were killed early Tuesday when the Chevrolet Cavalier they were riding in was hit by another car at an intersection in Canton Township, the Detroit Free Press reported.
A 24-year-old man from Whittaker was driving the car in which the women, 18 and 19 years old, were riding, the newspaper reported. Police told the Free Press they still were not sure what happened in the crash at the intersection of Canton Center Road and Michigan Avenue.

As a parent of a new driver, they cannot explain distracted driver, texting and et all. As a school bus driver I can count on one hand the times a distracted driver can do to a bus or to another. I just saw a video that really is an eye opener. I heard about this accident and pray for the families Michigan is a nightmare to navigate and really needs to be reassessed.

Condolences to the families. Speeds on Michigan Ave between Denton and Sheldon are to fast for all the businesses located on either side of the road.

Speed limit on Michigan between Denton and Haggerty is 55. Always has been. It is the nuts that go faster then this that cause the problems. They need a light at Beck and more Canton police ticketing the speeders. They use be out in hoards. Now I hardly ever see one. Wish they would come back. Although there is a speed trap just before Denton. Great job MSP.

I don't think I ever drove faster than 50 mph on eastbound Michigan Avenue back in 2006-2007; I could not have enjoyed the commute if I had driven that fast. Sure, Geddes Road was more scenic, even though it ends at Sheldon, but there were long waits at both Prospect and Ridge Roads for all the vehicles to get through if I used Geddes. And to think that this collision took place not far south of the Summit luxury apartments. Picturesque, but out of sight of the intersection.

The speed limit is 55 mph. Going 60 or 65 is not uncommon. It hard to judge a car coming at you at 65 mph. I hate to say it but the speed limit should be lowered.

It isn't the speed it's the drivers not paying attention. I have lost count the number of times drivers on Beck pulled out in front of Westbound Michigan ave traffic to get to the turn around for EB Mich Ave. Whether or not there are businesses located in the area has nothing to due with the fact that one of the driver's ran a red light.
