2-vehicle crash kills man near Washtenaw-Jackson County line

By Cindy Heflin

A man died in a crash near the Washtenaw-Jackson County line Tuesday morning, fire and ambulance authorities said.

The two-car crash occurred at about 6:15 a.m. on Austin Road between the county line and Buss Road in Jackson County’s Norvell Township, said Manchester Township Fire Chief Bill Scully.

Napoleon Township firefighters responded to the crash, as well as Huron Valley Ambulance paramedics, he said.

Joyce Williams, spokeswoman for Huron Valley Ambulance, confirmed one person died in the crash. The other driver did not require transportation to a hospital, she said.

Michigan State Police handled the crash investigation and were still at the scene after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. An officer at the Jackson Post said no information was available to release.
