Two hospitalized, one arrested after Friday hit and run

By Lisa Carolin

Ypsilanti Police continue to investigate a hit-and-run accident in which a man and a woman, 24 and 22 years old, were injured yesterday.

The two victims were waiting for a bus on the north side of Huron River Drive in the 1300 block when a 2002 Ford Taurus veered off the road and struck the pedestrians along with mailboxes, street signs and a brick wall, according to a police report. Both victims received extensive but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital by Huron Valley Ambulance.

The woman who was driving the car left the scene, but police located a 22-year-old female suspect walking on Superior Road. She had minor injuries and refused to answer a police officer's questions, police said.

The suspect vehicle was found in the woods off Superior Road with extensive damage. The suspect was arrested and taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for a blood draw for suspicion of operating under the influence, and then taken to the Washtenaw County Jail.

No further information was available early this afternoon.

Time it occurred? Names of victims, perp? I don't mean to carp (well, actually yes!) but it's the shoddy attention to detail that's partly responsible for making this site so irrelevant.
