I'm sick & tired of hearing how the U of M has to raise tuition & then spend more & more on renovations every year. Why do the people of MI. have to support a Public Institution when they have kind of money. The so called State higher education appropriations should be cut along with the administrators pay.

The money spent on renovations is being spent on buildings with a 30 or 40 year useful life, but which have not been renovated in 50 to 75 years. You can't expect to draw students or researchers into an environment which is badly rundown when they can go elsewhere and enjoy better amenities and better research facilities.

MSU tuition to go up by 3.5% .... looks like UM is holding the line.

Need the increases to pay for all the "over-paid" administrators just like the school system. It is totally unfortunate for those who wish to attend. When everything else is at a standstill or reduced, maybe UM should take another look at where they can cut.

You should consider reading the university almanac: administration over the last 10 years is growing at .7%, while research, (students and faculty both) and buildings are growing at a much faster rate. The U is doing more work with fewer people.

Very good breakdown. WOW! How about that increase just since 2003-2004? Who'd have thought that 9 years ago.
