The special Cinco de Mayo show, held at 7 p.m. May 5 at 314 E. Liberty St., will benefit the torch run, Michigan State Police Inspector Garth Burnside said Friday. In turn, the proceeds from the run will benefit the Special Olympics of Michigan, he said.
This is the third year Burnside has organized the comedy show. Tickets are $20 and all the money raised from the tickets will go directly to the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics.
Headlining the show is “World’s Funniest Cop” Dwayne Gill. Also appearing are Mike O’Keefe, Brad Wenzel, Julie Lyons and Zach Martina.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is made up of police and corrections officers who work together to raise money for people with intellectual disabilities. The run is the largest grassroots fundraising effort supporting the Special Olympics.
The comedians will perform for free, and the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase agreed to host the event for free in order for all the money raised to go to the toch run, Burnside said.
Anyone interested in purchasing tickets to this event is encouraged to call Burnside at 734-260-5850 or email him at BurnsideG@michigan.gov. Tickets will be sold at the door, but it’s recommended the tickets be bought in advance.

Having two grandsons who participate in the Special Olympics, God Bless each and every one of you for helping to raise funds and awareness for this marvelous program. To all, if you have not attended one, highly recommend it because to be sure, it does put life very much in perspective.
