Traffic dispute turns into fight in Northfield Township police station lot

By AnnArbor.com Staff

A traffic dispute turned into a physical fight in the parking lot of the Northfield Township Police Department, authorities say.

Two drivers were in the 8300 block of Main Street last Wednesday when one took offense at the other for driving 25 mph in a 35 mph zone, police said.

The drivers pulled their vehicles into the rear lot of the police and fire station and began arguing, reports said. The argument turned physical, and officers separated the two, reports said.

Neither wanted to press charges, and they were released at the scene, reports said.

There always seems to be someone who wants to go faster than I'm going. Guess what it's not my problem, go around or go a different route! Get over it!

"when one took offense at the other for driving 25 mph in a 35 mph zone," Going 10 under is so annoying. Just pass the guy and get it over with though.

In the police parking lot.... Great idea guys. More people who must not be able to think more than 15 seconds into the future. My guess is that they probably aren't chess masters.

I hate people who drive well below the speed limit, however people have the right to drive at a speed that they feel is safe and reasonable for them so long as it is within the minimum (if any) or maximum posted limits. If I encounter someone going 10 under, then I wait until it is safe and legal to pass....then pass. If there is no opportunity to pass, then I deal with it. Did you ever notice that approx. 50-60% of the time the slow people speed up after you pass them? Gee, did I wake you? If you ever want someone to go a little faster DO NOT, I repeat do not tailgate. It is rude, illegal, and dangerous. Follow at a safe distance, then pass when safe and legal. Then watch them speed up.

The guy behind the slow driver was in such a big hurry that he had time to park and fight. Go figure.

Take your time save on gas! Futher more who pays your speeding ticket when you go to fast? Good thing he was not behind me because I would be doing less than speed limit. When your are a former truck driver you learn very quick that you can not stop a big truck in ten feet!
