Township residents to vote on open space millage
Augusta Township residents will vote on a proposed 10-year farmland and open-space preservation millage in August, the Ypsilanti Courier reported.
The proposed tax levy of .1 mill would result in the owner of a home with a taxable value of $100,000 paying $10 per year. Township officials estimate it would raise $20,000 in the first year, the newspaper reported.
The township would use the money to purchase land and property rights.

$200,000 after ten years. Really- Just how much 'preservation' do they expect to accomplish with this relatively small fund?

"Stop spending my money to tell me I can't grow my business or home." What are you talking about?

Great, another greenbelt-esque idea. How about we stop forcing people to spend their money to buy property no one will use? And yes, $10 per $100,000 is miniscule. It's the principle of the thing. Stop spending my money to tell me I can't grow my business or home. If that's the case, I'll happily move someplace less blatantly stupid.
