Republican Brian Shelby wins in contested Augusta Township trustee race, plus other local uncontested trustee, park commission results

Voters in several townships and one village selected trustees and park commissioners today in largely uncontested races.

The only contested race in local townships was in Augusta Township, where three candidates were vying for one seat on the board of trustees. Republican Brian Shelby pulled out a narrow victory over Democrat Susan Burek, with 1,123 votes to Burek's 1,013. Green Party candidate David A. McMahon collected 179 votes.

The following races were uncontested:

In the Dexter Village Trustee race, Jim Carson received 761 votes, Donna L. Fisher got 821 and Raymond C. Tell received 678.

In Scio Township, David S. Read won the partial trustee term with 5,229 votes.

In Pittsfield Township, Andrea Brown-Harrison received 6,632 votes to cinch a partial-term trustee seat. And Karen Zera received 6,609 votes for a term on the parks commission.

In Ypsilanti Township, Marsha K. Lathion was named as a parks commissioner with 11,639 votes.

In Superior Township, Sandra Lopez was named as a parks commissioner with 3,218 votes.
