By Tina Reed

A tour of green homes around the Ann Arbor area is planned for later this month.

The "Green Buildings for Cool Cities" tour is being held to feature eight homes certified in energy efficiency and offer tips on sustainable home building methods from builders and architects.

Some of the features of homes on the tour include geothermal heating and cooling, tankless hot water systems, advanced framing techniques and photovoltaic cells.

The tour is planned for June 12-13 with self-guided tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and guided tours offered between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on those days.

The homes are located in various parts of Ann Arbor as well as in the Dexter area and Saline.
