A fire this morning in the Augusta Woods mobile home community destroyed one home and seriously damaged another, displacing three people, Augusta Township fire officials said.

No one was injured in the 3:07 a.m. blaze that appears to have started in a shed on Conover Drive, Assistant Fire Chief David Music said.

Music said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but it does not appear to be suspicious.

The fire spread from the shed to one home and then another and also destroyed a car, Music said. Two other homes had damage to their siding, he said.

At least 30 firefighters responded from Augusta Township, Ypsilanti Township, Pittsfield Township, Milan, Van Buren Township and Sumpter Township, and had the fire under control in about an hour, Music said. Damage was estimated at about $180,000.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced, he said.
