Students hit the Diag to rally for tuition equality
Roughly 100 students gathered on the University of Michigan Diag Tuesday evening to rally for tuition equality for undocumented students, according to a Michigan Daily article.
U-M put together a task force earlier this year to study tuition equality but the school has announced no changes to its current policy, which requires undocumented students who live in Michigan to pay non-resident rates.
“It’s been slow going,” U-M senior Kevin Mersol-Barg, a student activist rallying for tuition equality, told the Daily.

Wonder if those citizen students protesting would offer to pay more and raise the tuition for all to the highest tier? Yeah, didn't think so, equality indeed.

So.....if you are from Ohio, just declare yourself "undocumented" and get in free? Lovely.

I think the university policy here is fair, but Mary Sue went too far when she required undocumented aliens to use only the specially marked water bottle refill stations.

Ironic that this is coming at the most expensive public school in the state. How about tuition equality for the rest of us by dropping the price down? We're not all from wealthy New Jersey and New York families, rolling into A2 in our Audi's and Porsches...

These undocumented students vote correctly and should therefore be charged instate tuition.

Forget the "tuition inequality." Why are illegal aliens even granted admission in the first place???

Only here. In a lot of countries you'd be shot or put into some hole of a jail and forgotten about for stepping over the wrong border. Here? Ah, we give you education, rights, food, money, no taxes, a place to live, free health care and a job that "no one" wants (Sure if you pay 2 bucks an hour). What a country. Someone call the INS. I'm sure they can warm up a bus heading south.

Exactly why this country is in dire straits economically. 16 trillion in debt. A rising number of the population seeking and receiving government entitlements. When the number of those receiving entitlements exceeds the number of those paying taxes to support them, you can kiss it all good-bye. can you say: Greece?

In Sweden, tuition is free for all, including foreigners. Somehow, they aren't broke. Maybe it's because they don't give a trillion a year to overcharging military contractors who "lose" billions left and right, and because they didn't give trillions to the banks. It's absurd to suggest those who create wealth in this world - those who work the fields and the factories, who study in school and become engineers, doctors, and scientists - are parasites who are the cause of our financial problems. The issue is with those who could work but don't, who don't work but collect the fruits of labor of thousands or millions all for themselves - the capitalists.

It's not "free" and more than our health care is going to be "free."

Of maybe it's the high taxes they pay? Or maybe it's all the left over nazi gold and art that they seemed to have forgotten about? Hmmmm?

Stop using the politically correct term "undocumented". They are illegal aliens.

Only in the United States would this even be an issue. We have become so tolerant that we have lost our minds.
