Strong thunderstorms possible in Washtenaw County on Saturday

Ann Arbor and surrounding areas could see some severe thunderstorms on Saturday, according to the latest weather forecasts.

Weather.com sees a 60 percent chance of rain today, with the potential for scattered strong storms. The forecast says, "Storms may produce large hail and strong winds." The best chance for strong storms is around 4-6 p.m.

Weather Underground has the chance of rain at 80 percent.

A number of events are scheduled around the Ann Arbor area today, including several outdoors.

Expect high temperatures today in the upper 70s, with winds of 10 to 20 mph.

Rain will continue to be likely overnight.

Sunday, expect partly cloudy skies and a high temperature in the upper 60s.

To be clear, there is often the "possibility " of severe storms. BUT the Storm Prediction Center put us in the General to Slight risk category today. http://www.wunderground.com/severeconvective.asp?outlook=today

Bob I understand, because my wife was telling me one thing ( she was seeing on TV)and I was looking at the maps and seeing something quite different.

Thanks for that link. The maps have already changed quite a bit from when I first posted this. When I got up this morning, just about all of Michigan was under a more band of likely severe storms, but as you note, this is now quite different.
