The event will take place 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at the Salem-South Lyon District Library, 9800 Pontiac Trail, in South Lyon.
Rutledge will hold coffee hours regularly throughout eastern Washtenaw County, including upcoming events in Ypsilanti and Augusta, Superior and Ypsilanti townships.
"State government needs feedback from the public to function well," Rutledge said in a statement. "As a new legislator, I want to hear what's on our residents' minds so that I can better represent our community in Lansing."
Rutledge recently came out in opposition to proposed changes to the state's emergency financial manger rules.
