I got a call from a friend of mine in Ohio. She said that Ann Arbor made the news for snowfall. Wow. Loved the snow day hated the power outage.

Those are good suggestions and here's another. If you can afford it, get a snow-thrower. I realize not everyone can do that and I'm not trying to be funny. I am thankful I have one but even with it doing the snow today was chore with how wet and heavy it is. We live in Pittsfield Township off Ellsworth near Meijers and I think we have 5-6". I'll be the first to admit I thought the forecast yesterday was all wrong when it kept raining.

Every time I use mine it's worth every penny I paid for it AND I have a friend with a snow plow so I'm sitting pretty right now

5 ways to shovel heavy snow safely: 1) Small scoops 2) lift from your knees not your back 3) break often : enjoy the scenery 4) keep hydrated 5) take it slow

Susan, you're on a roll with the lists this morning. I'd add another suggestion, before shoveling make snow angels.

I would add to your excellent suggestions to alternate periodically from your left side to your right to try to keep the stresses on the body balanced.
