Weather service: Snow accumulations will reach 2 to 3 inches in Ann Arbor Monday

By John Counts

Two and a half inches of snow had already fallen in the Ann Arbor area by noon Monday and another inch or so was expected before a winter weather advisory expired at 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Sarah Schultz, a meteorologist with the weather service, said the University of Michigan was reporting the two and a half inches just before noon.

The six-hour total of snow accumulation will likely reach about three inches, she said. A winter weather advisory issued early Monday morning is still set to expire at 2 p.m.

“It should start tapering off after that,” Schultz said.

The snow showers will continue throughout the week as temperatures hold in the lower to middle 20s.

"We'll keep having these clipper systems coming through," Schultz said. "We'll keep seeing these snow showers." There will be a break from the snow on Wednesday and a slight warm-up is expected at the end of the week.

Salt trucks were out an hour or more before the snow started early this morning. The main surface roads were wet throughout the day. Secondary streets like Ashley or Madison were also wet. This is one time where the driving conditions were better than expected. No complaints on this one.

All the complaints online here lately and the recent article, maybe someone was worried about heads rolling. Maybe this website is good for something...?

This is why I am saying to myself, I am not complaining. I am not complaining. Because I hate to think of last summer and how hot it got.

It seems it snows just enough to be annoying lately. Not enough to be a big deal, but enough to where its got to be taken care of. I can't figure out ideally which way it would be better? Light amounts of snow here and there (like it has been doing) or significant amounts every so often.

I hear you. 5 months ago it wasn't snowing at all - now it's like we seem to get snow almost every day.

The city should apply for disaster relief. After all, nearly anything qualifies these days.
