Severe storm leaves 4,000 Washtenaw County residents without power
Editor's note: Scott Simons' name has been corrected in this article.
As a result of a severe storm Friday night in Washtenaw County, DTE Energy has confirmed approximately 4,000 customers — mostly in the southeast area of the county — have been left without power.
"The storm had winds of up to 45 miles per hour," said Scott Simons, spokesperson for DTE. "Branches were falling, trees were falling, and they're bound to hit power lines."
While other areas were hit much harder than Washtenaw County, Simons said there still is some work to be done before the power is restored.
"We expect 90 percent of our customers to have their power back by (Sunday) night," he said.
The National Weather Service says the weather is expected to calm down, as well as cool down (a little) throughout the next week.

These power outages are getting old, too bad we can put rovers on Mars yet upgrading the power grid takes a backseat--maybe in the next century we can get around to burying the power lines--like the Europeans have already done, lol,

If you think cutting trees is intrusive, just wait until they dig trenches in your back yard and put in pad mount transformers.

WOW!! Very, very cool! Thanks for sharing these! We don't get much lightning and thunder action out here in Seattle (which is a bummer because I'm a weather nut), so it's really nice to see some photos of real weather back in the motherland. :)

WalkingJoe.... thank you! The storm last night was one of the more memorable storms that has rolled through Ann Arbor. For about 4 hours I watched hundreds of lightning strikes hit west and south of Ann Arbor... amazing spectacle. I just wish I had more battery power for my camera last night.
