Separate beds - Lucy and Ricky might have had it right
Could sleeping separately could be better for your relationship? The question was taken up by former Ann Arbor resident Colleen Newvine Tebeau in her blog “Newvine Growing.”
She points to several sleep studies that have found that couples sleep better if they sleep in separate beds.
Apparently, it is a growing trend.
“Couples today are writing their own script, rewriting how to have a marriage,” she quotes Pamela J. Smock, a University of Michigan sociologist as saying. “The growing need for separate bedrooms also represents the speed-up of family life — women’s roles have changed — and the need for extra space eases the strain on the relationship.
