Sen. Stabenow to speak at Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber luncheon on Aug. 1

By Ryan J. Stanton

The Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber will host a luncheon with U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow on Aug. 1 at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest.

The event runs from 10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Stabenow is expected to share her insight on the latest developments from Washington, D.C.

Andy LaBarre, the chamber's vice president of government relations, said the event will be open to non-chamber members. Registration information is available on the chamber's website at http://www.a2ychamber.org.

"As chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, and a member of the Senate Energy, Finance, and Budget Committees, Sen. Stabenow serves on the key economic committees in the Senate, which are critical to our future," chamber leaders stated in a press release.

Stabenow has represented Michigan in the U.S. Senate since 2001. Prior to her Senate service, she was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1997 to 2001. She also served in both the Michigan state Senate and House.

She now co-chairs the bipartisan Senate Manufacturing Caucus and was appointed to the President’s Export Council by both President Bush and President Obama. Chamber leaders praised her for helping Michigan companies export their products overseas.

"Sen. Stabenow has been a champion for Washtenaw County — supporting advanced energy research at the University of Michigan; promoting advanced battery technology; and she led the effort in Congress to support the new U of M Center of Excellence in Nano-Mechanical Science and Engineering," the chamber said in the press release. "She authored the manufacturing retooling loan program that is working to bring jobs back to Ypsilanti from Mexico."

Maybe the good Senator will explain how those famous "job killing" Bush tax cuts have done just like they were intended and trickled down on our not so great society so much that we now must have even MORE of that same "genius" in order for our economy to prosper. And that would please AA.com and these posters! Bogie, wake up!

If she plans on speaking about her success and track record in helping businesses in Michigan and America create jobs, she should be done speaking in about 2 minutes. At least that would prevent the attendees from getting indigestion.
