Salvation Army of Washtenaw County exceeds Red Kettle goal, raises $330K
The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County 2010 Red Kettle Campaign raised $330,000 — exceeding its fundraising goal of $300,000, according to a news release.
The campaign ran from Nov. 12 to Jan. 31.
“We’re sincerely grateful to the people of Washtenaw County for doing the most good to help us meet our Red Kettle Campaign goal,” Major John Williams, Washtenaw County coordinator, said in the release. “These much needed funds will allow us to continue providing vital services including food and shelter that a growing number of people in Washtenaw County depend on."
The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County uses an average of 85 cents of every dollar donated to provide such services as food pantry and soup kitchen, a family shelter, transitional housing and counseling for veterans, and utility assistance and eviction prevention, according to the release.
