Saline schools community budget forum rescheduled

By Lisa Allmendinger

The Saline Area Schools budget forum originally scheduled for Thursday has been rescheduled to May 26.

The forum is intended to get community input about ways to close a projected $5.95 million budget gap.

In an earlier forum, Superintendent Scot Graden offered a number of potential ideas for cutting the budget, which included teacher layoffs, sports funding and busing changes. Graden said in an e-mail this morning that school administration wanted to wait until it got more information about budget figures for the district from Lansing before meeting with the community for a second time.

The forum will be held on May 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Liberty School Media Center.

"Over the next two weeks we will continue to refine projections and develop scenarios to be discussed in the May 26 forum," the e-mail states.
