Saline man slashed with knife outside Canton Sam's Club
Police say a Saline man was attacked Sunday outside the Canton Sam's Club when a Canton man spat on him and slashed him with a knife, the Canton Observer reported.
The incident happened just before 4 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the store, 39800 Ford Road. The Saline man sought medical attention for a cut on his forearm, but his injuries did not appear life threatening, the report said.
Police told the Observer it's not clear what triggered the incident.

There's probably a lot more to this story. I wonder if it will turn out to be anything like the Saline man who was attacked by MSU hockey players?

Probably another one of those "cutting line" incidents that continued into the parking lot.

And what the heck is going on at 1500 Pauline. One day a fire, that night the entire building is covered in gang graffiti, next two days there are 3 then 5 fire trucks there, but no hoses or lights. If this happened in Ypsilanti it would be page one of gang take over parts of town.

Firefighters have been conducting training exercises at 1500 Pauline. Is this what you are referring to? http://www.annarbor.com/news/ann-arbor-firefighters-use-soon-to-be-demolished-apartments-to-conduct-training-exercises/#.UGxcy-0XpnE

Yes, I noticed that graffiti yesterday and wondered about it. When were the buildings defaced, and was it (or will it be)reported in the local news? Are the authorities working to find the responsible parties, and will the vandals be charged? It can't be that difficult to find out who's responsible--applying that much paint took time, and it couldn't have gone entirely unnoticed. Unless the people in that neighborhood want to see a lot more of it (and probably other undesirable behaviors along with it), they should put a lot of pressure on both the owners/managers of the complex, law enforcement, and whatever community leaders there may be in the area to act now and put a stop to this very public form of antisocial behavior. I know some people call graffiti 'art,' and I won't get into that argument, but surely even they would have to admit that art shouldn't be imposed on residents who don't want it on their homes, whether it's graffiti or a wall-sized toreador or a copy of the Sistine Chapel frescoes.

How can one escape becoming just another crime statistic in the daily hell that has become Greater Saline? Just when you think you're out, they pull you back in. It'll turn out this perpetrator followed the victim from home, probably on one of those outlaw mopeds the thugs love so much. Steps should be taken about Greater Saline, and maybe reopening that salt mine is what it'll take to restore order.

That should teach him to never leave the safety nest that is Saline. If you can't find it in Saline, you just will have to live without it.

How do you know he wasn't in Canton for other reasons, too, such as going to school there or visiting relatives there? You learn to bank and shop in cities where you work or go to school, if doing so cuts down on driving. If his financial institution is a credit union, credit union family service centers are in Ypsilanti, Canton, Garden City, Taylor and elsewhere. He could have found it convenient to stop by that Sam's Club because it's so close to I-275. Did he intend to get back on I-275 and continue north? Or simplest of all, did he intend to meet someone there? Julie, the first thing I thought about when I read that a Saline man was involved in it was, perhaps he wanted to compare products sold and prices charged between the Ypsi and Canton Sam's Clubs. Now I just thought that he might have looked for something at the Ypsi Sam's, told that it was out of stock there, told by Sam's employees there to go to the Canton location to get it, for they DID have it there. Years ago, that happened for me between two Meijer stores in the area when I was looking to buy a large mailbox from one. They were out of that size, and sent me to one Meijer further away, who did have it, as the first store said they would.

Last time I asked why AnnArbor.com was reporting on news that occurred two miles east of Ypsilanti, I was informed that this paper reported on all the happenings of Washtenaw County. In this case, the alleged event occurred in Wayne County. Guys - AnnArbor.com is for AnnArbor/Washtenaw County news. Right? Or is it for "whatever news we want to fit on the page today"?

The man who was slashed doesn't have any idea what precipitated this? Was this just a random attack from a nut?

This is what happens when you cut funding for police and pay for "public art".
