Mother gives birth in car as Saline police provide escort to hospital
A newborn baby and his 25-year-old mother are doing well after the woman gave birth in the car as Saline police provided an escort to the hospital.
Saline police reported a man called 911 at 9:57 a.m. Friday to alert police that the woman was in labor and they were on their way to the hospital. The man was driving a Pontiac Sunfire east of Michigan Avenue when officers spotted the car and began providing an escort to the emergency room.
When they arrived at the hospital, the man informed police that the woman had actually given birth in the car before arriving at the hospital. Officer Theo Helms directed the man to go inside the hospital and alert staff while he went to check on the woman and the baby. Police reported the baby was crying and they both seemed to be in good shape.
Officers stayed at the hospital to help get the woman inside and waited in the emergency room to make sure everything was OK.

Ah, a Pontiac Sunfire! That explains it...

Glad to hear that mom & baby are doing well. I narrowly escaped the same circumstances myself; dad was at the beach with my 3 older siblings, mom went into labor, left a puddle of amniotic fluid on the floor, a friend took her to the hospital where I made my entrance maybe 10 minutes after mom got off the elevator. Guess I was impatient even then....!

The phrase "the hospital" is repeated six times, but we're never told which of several possible area hospitals it is. St. Joe Saline, St Joe, U of M? Seems like an important missing detail.

It's possible it was not released at the time to avoid undue attention to the patients ?

Lewanster- I graduated with a degree in journalism from Michigan State University. Perry White- Which hospital the man and woman were heading to was not clear in the police report and the detective I spoke to about the incident didn't know. I'm hoping to speak with the woman and her family more about this and anticipate finding out that detail.

That is because these are not journalism graduates reporting the news.

I would recommend "natures miracle" or a similar product for the car seats.
