Hours and rules for Saline's new outdoor ice rink at Henne Field

Saline residents can head to Henne Field and lace up their ice skates today when the city's new portable ice rink officially opens at 8 a.m.

Located on the northeast corner of Henne Field just off Bennett Street, the rink is 60 by 100 feet and was purchased from Nice Rink Company of Genoa City, Wis., according to information from the city.

Funding for the ice rink came from a CARES recreation millage grant, a contribution from the Saline Rotary Club and from Saline's Economic Development Corp..

The rink was constructed by the Saline Department of Public Works and is being maintained by the Saline Fire Department.

Hours are Sunday-Thursday 8 a.m -9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

People skate at their own risk, and safety gear is recommended. There is no skate attendant on duty and children should be supervised by a responsible adult.

Hockey sticks and pucks are not allowed. No trespassing is allowed when the rink is closed. Call 734-429-7911 for emergencies.
