Police: Employee accused of assaulting HR rep at Saline factory

Police are investigating an alleged assault at the Faurecia plant in Saline Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Jay Basso of the Saline Police Department confirmed that the incident was a confrontation between an employee at the former ACH plant and a human resources representative in which the employee is accused of punching the HR representative in the face.

Basso said that no arrests have been made and that police have not yet been able to make contact with the person of interest in the case.

Hopefully the state will become a RIGHT TO WORK state and then we can kiss the unions goodbye. I worked in a union shop for 30 yrs and all they were good at doing was sleeping with the company and takeing my 2 hrs pay every month.

I wonder why the labor rep was punched. I've seen where reps told slacker employees to just get back to work and quit wasting everyone's time. The employee was none to pleased!

I'm usually conservative with everything but labor. Working for a union is much better. A lot of evil management people out there that abuse and fire you for no reason other than they don't like you. Just look at how awful charter schools are and how the teachers do all the work and get paid nothing while supervision does nothing but balance budgets on the backs of others and get paid like champs. I hate republicans and democrats. One wants to tax your brains out and the other wants you poor and paid like a chump.

Grey man, I don't think you even know what teachers have to do, have to put up with, have to endure. Their job is getting harder, they are being paid less and their pension funds are typically underfunded so that they can be run into insolvency and then it's blamed on the teachers instead of the ones who underfunded it or played hard and fast games to bankrupt it. I don't think you could teach a classroom or handle up to 150 students a day or do all the grading and lesson planning that you have to do on your own time. This bull about villifying teachers is old, stupid and unsubstantiated. Your comment is irresponsible and inflammatory at best.

I can't agree with you. I've worked for both union and non-union organizations in the past. The place I was treated the most unfairly was the unionized company. But I do have coworkers who wouldn't have lasted a month in a non-unionized entity due to their poor work ethic. In most cases if a worker is fired there is just cause. There are exceptions to that rule of course, but management wants good, qualified workers - the types that do their job, show up on time, and are motivated.

Unions are in it for themselves. As a union member who has been taking pay cuts for the last 5 years, I found it disturbing when I got an email this week saying my dues were going up. Michigan needs to be a right to work state, and the sooner the better.

I doubt you are a union member. If you were and you didn't like what was going on, you could get more involved instead of complaining and make a difference. If you are union and you think Michigan should be a right to work state then something is wrong with you, not the union.

They should be. Labor leaders make much more than the "common working man" that they are supposed to support. And all they do is extort, ahem ...... I mean collect funds from workers who are forced to pay dues for the RIGHT to work....... And then with those funds, use them to fund crooked politicians who may not always share the political or moral views of the workers themselves. When a teenager who starts work at Meijer at 16 and is forced to pay union dues but is not admitted to the "adults only" union meeting, something's wrong. Unions killed Michigan, time for the Right to Work!
