Saline to host principal roundtable with community, 3 finalists May 2
One week from today, Saline Area Schools will have narrowed its pool of potential high school principals from eight candidates to three.
Executive Director of Human Resources Curt Ellis and his team whittled the original list of 61 applicants down to eight individuals. A committee of parents, teachers, administrators and students is interviewing those eight applicants today.
After feedback from the interviews is assessed, three finalists will be selected to participate in a community, “Principal Roundtable” at 6 p.m. May 2 at Saline High School.
Aaron Mukerjee, student representative to the Board of Education, said he is pleased with the way the district has handled the search, in particular with how actively involved high school students have been in the process.
May 11 is the target date for presenting a final candidate for hire to the board. Ellis said they are on track to meet that date.
Former Saline High School Principal Ben Williams left Saline in January to become the superintendent of Central Lake Public Schools in northern Michigan. Assistant Principal Eric Diroff is serving as the interim principal.
