So we're still having contests to determine who is the best looking among us?

Congratulations Ms Williams. Maybe now she can join the rally to help "create education better". Yes, Miss Utah. We heard you. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/17/miss-usa-utah-create-education-better-video_n_3451896.html

My grandfather used to call a look like her's 'a mouth full of teeth', which I believe was a compliment. She certainly has a great smile!

Obvious comment: Some locals you do have to reside or attend school in that county, but some are open local pageants which is helpful for students that mat attend school out of state or have other schedules that may limit particpation. All these ladies raise funds for Children Miracle Network even to participate on local level. Once selected as a local winner like Miss Saginaw, they volunteer and make many appearances in that community. Before you criticize on an exciting time for the new Miss Michigan, I would encourage you to learn more about this scholarship program and the young ladies that participate. They are ambitious, intelligent, talented, volunteers in the commumity, role models, and great great examples of this state.

There are many other young women (and men) who do the same work at the same or maybe even a higher scale but they aren't recognized for it because they don't look as good in a swim suit or evening gown.

Could someone please explain how a Saline resident was Miss Saginaw County? Is she a current Saline resident? I thought you had to live in the place you represented...not that winning a beauty pageant really represents anything but that's another point all together.

Thanks for answering my question...actually that rule puts even less importance on whatever it is they are supposed to be representing.

Good question, we we're equally perplexed. Per Lisha Arino over at MLive Muskegon: Miss Saginaw County is an "open" pageant, meaning that anyone in the state can compete for the title.
