Saline police say drunken man entered woman's apartment and groped her
A Saline man is accused of entering a neighbor’s apartment and forcing himself on her while he was drunk.
Raymond Jewell, 48, is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 17 to face a preliminary hearing on charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and home invasion.
Saline police arrested him on July 19 after the 33-year-old woman called to report she was assaulted in the 200 block of North Maple Road at about 9 p.m.
She told officers she was sleeping on the couch and awoke to find Jewell standing nearby looking over her, reports said. She was startled and moved to the kitchen, where she asked Jewell, an acquaintance, to leave.
He said he needed to look at her computer and allegedly followed her into the kitchen, where he groped her and kissed her. She pushed him away, and he left after she agreed she’d see him later.
Reports say Jewell again entered the woman's apartment unannounced a short time later and followed her to the laundry room, where he attempted to kiss her again and placed his hand in her pants. She got back to her apartment and called police.
While interviewing the woman, officers learned another woman living in the apartment building reported that Jewell stole her cell phone. He was arrested without incident and has also been charged with larceny, court records show.
The 39-year-old woman whose phone was stolen told officers she and Jewell broke up recently, and he took the phone because he was mad, reports said.
Police reports indicated Jewell smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and trouble balancing. He remains in the Washtenaw County Jail without bond.

Actually Amelie, My comment answered the previous commenter's question. It specifically did not assume his guilt or innocence in this case. You might want to try "did not forward the conversation" or whatever other nonsense of your choosing instead.
