No one was injured in crashes this morning on M-14 and I-94 in Ann Arbor, State Police said.

A truck rolled over on westbound M-14 near Main Street at 8:36 a.m. One lane of the freeway was blocked, causing extensive traffic backups on the freeway.

Another crash was reported on westbound I-94 near State Street at about the same time, State Police said.

Sgt. Tony Cuevas of the Ypsilanti Post said two cars were involved in a rear-end property damage crash.

Whatever Scooter - maybe you should have checked the Motor Vehicle Code and argued the ticket. *shrug* Here's the code - just google MIchigan Motor Vehicle Code to verify: "When a vehicle approaches the intersection of a highway from an intersecting highway or street which is intended to be, and is constructed as, a merging highway or street, and is plainly marked at the intersection with appropriate merge signs, the vehicle shall yield right of way to a vehicle so close as to constitute an immediate hazard on the highway about to be entered and shall adjust its speed so as to enable it to merge safely with the through traffic."

That merging question is worth some followup. I always thought it was my responsibility to merge safely. If I had only known I can just blast out into a lane of traffic, I would have made up a lot of time in life. If the law says to move over, it needs to be changed.

I received a ticket for failing to yield to a merging vehicle so I guess the state trooper was wrong and you the average law abiding citizen are right and the judge in chelsea was wrong also when I went to court and lost.2 points and $250.00 cost.So I think they are right and you are wrong

Just checked the MI motor vehicle code, Scooter, and no, that's not accurate. Mbill is correct. It is the person merging's responsibility to adjust their speed to those already on the highway. And they are also correct that an amazing number of drivers don't know that.

The law says people driving on e-way have to move over if someone is merging into there lane, IF no one is next to them in other lane.

What I do is only drive the speed limit when someone is tailgating. MI drivers do not know how to merge. Other drivers do not have to get out of your way. It is your job to merge in and not run other drivers out of your way.

@Scooter. What you just described is how the majority of persons drive in Michigan. The problem here is the said persons are only worried about one thing, themselves. There needs to be stricter laws that govern citations for auto accidents and the no fault gimmick needs to be removed. People need to be held accountable for their driving habits.

3 car lenghts?,try 2 telephone poles between cars.People that follow at 3 car lenghts need their head looked at.At 70 mph if they hit the skids you are going to be in their back seat before you have time to react. I'll bet that if the truth is known that 75% of the accidents at the north main bridge M-14 area are caused by (A) TAILGATING (B)SWITCHING LANES,WITHOUT LOOKING and (C)TALKING ON THE PHONE or a combination of all three. They were doing 70-80 plus before they raised the speed limit. State streets main problem is people entering the e-way without looking, speeding and waiting till the last second from the fast lane to exit.

the speed limit thing was my first instinct. that and the fact that hardly anyone on the roads here in michigan obey the three car length rule. i almost was rear ended by someone who was right on me on m14 a few days ago when there was a crash at godfredson. had the other lane not been clear he would have had nowhere else to go but into me as all the traffic came to an abrupt stop. i had my three car lenghts and i barely had the road space to stop going 70mph.

AnnArbor.com, I wish when there are accidents involving injuries that we could get follow-up information. It seems that we read about these accidents happening and there is never an update on the condition of the accident victims, the cause of the cause of the accident, etc. Thanks.

Speed limits work with a relatively small investment of police time -- just enough to create the perception of a speed trap. These should definitely be restored to 55.

think speed limits really matter? speed limits are only suggestions. hope everyone's alright. i went through i-94 at state at about 8 and it was clear then.

Among the reasons that they raised the speed limits was because traffic was already traveling between 60 and 65 mph already. Yep, and now that the limit is 65, traffic speed has increased to between 70 and 75. This is not conjecture, it's based upon the five days a week I spend driving this stretch. Bring the speed limit back down to 55 and do it soon. This is the "New Coke" of speed limit decisions.. bring back Coke Classic.

And the State raised the speed limits in this area recently. Dumbest move in a long string of dumb moves. I drive a lot of miles each year and consider that area the most dangerous of any trip I might take. Right after the limit was raised there were new skid marks on the west bound side just north of the bridge. Plus, now east bound people can plow into the guard rails at the Barton exit and do more damage at higher speeds. I went EB Saturday night and the rain and dark made for a dangerous mix. None of the lane/edge markings were visible and I had a hard time even determing were the median walls were. The deaths and accidents that have occured in that area should have caused the speeds limits to stay the same. I know we all like to get where we are going as quickly as possible, but I learned to modify my behavior a long time ago when going through that area. People did complain about the enforcement that AAPD did there, but I always welcomed it.

I was in the east bound lanes and saw it happen, directly in front of me. Scary. I hope the driver is ok. looks like it rolled onto the passenger side and was hit by some sort of utility truck. tried to cal 911 but the lines were jammed. traffic stopped immediately. nothing i could do from my side.....
