Rollover crash blocks 1 lane of U.S. 23 north of Ann Arbor

A single-vehicle crash injured one person and shut down the right lane of northbound U.S. 23 north of Ann Arbor for a while Friday.
The crash occurred about 10:30 a.m. on northbound U.S. 23 north of Joy Road in Northfield Township. It involved an SUV hauling a trailer, which rolled over, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said.
The trailer was destroyed in the crash and debris from it littered the side of the roadway.
One person was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in critical condition said Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Karen Gabrys.
Further information was not immediately available.

Kyle M.; I, like other repliers, am very concerned about the number of accidents this year, mostly in good weather. And there are virtually dozens of others that do not make news. Just last week, I went out on Wastenaw Avenue two days in a row, and saw two minor accidents (not witnessed) that needed ambulances - neither serious enough to make print. I would hate to imagine how many accidents happen each day in our county. It also seems to me many are occurring that involve a driver crossing over the line, or going off the road, with what appears to be no attempts at braking, from what authorities are saying. I think we may be having a tremendous amount of lack of concentration and/or distractions, that when combined with speed are becoming too common. Seeing this amount of accidents, should be a warning for other drivers, but unfortunately sometimes not. Although the pictures and stories might sometimes be hard on the families, I think they are an important reminder that life is very fragile. Everyone needs to pay attention, be aware and slowdown - please !

We 100% agree Terry. Thanks for the reminder to us all to keep our eyes on the road.

How many rollover accidents have there been recently? Does it just seem like it's happening a lot, or is there really a much higher frequency?

Seems like they've been happening a lot on nice days like this. Do we really need to have crappy weather to prevent accidents around here?

I just drove through this area. US 23 north is severely backed up all the way back to the M-14 interchange. The Right lane is closed down and the camper looks like a furniture truck exploded. There was definitely one injured person taken to the hospital because an Ambulance was leaving the scene with it's lights on. The crash looked horrible, but it did not appear that there were any serious injuries as it appeared that everyone was out of the cars walking. AA.com, you need to get some pictures of this accident.

Send as many as you like and we'll select from there, but we obviously don't need hundreds from a single scene. Even if you capture just an interesting or unique shot like this one http://on.fb.me/YAxJ3u feel free to send it our way as we may feature it on the site, our FB page, or elsewhere!

If one were in a spot to take pictures of a newsworthy event unfolding would you people rather get one or two pictures or would you rather get a bunch from which you can pick?

kyle, out of curiosity is there a way for an average citizen to send pics to A2.com from their phones in such a case ?

We have a photographer sending photos in right now Max and will be adding a shot in shortly. It usually take our photographers a bit to get to the scene of freeway accidents due to back-ups and having to find an alternate route to get a shot.
