Ousting governor may not be Snyder recall group's ultimate goal

By Cindy Heflin

Ousting Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder might not be the ultimate goal of the group seeking to recall him, MLive reports.

Michigan Rising aims to collect more than a million signatures to force a recall election of the governor.

But political analysts say its real goal might be to collect names and addresses of potential voters - and donors - to boost Democrats in state House races and even President Obama’s re-election bid.

The group’s previous effort to get a recall on the ballot failed. Inside Michigan Politics editor Bill Ballenger expects this one will, too. He said no state group has ever collected enough signatures to place a gubernatorial recall question on a ballot.

Governor Snyder has done such a better job than his predecessor..... It would be a shame to waste all the energy and resources to try to have a special election that won't succeed anyway.... Why not do something constructive like try to get Governor Romney elected President before President Obama almost single-handedly ruins what's left of our country?

As it should, the truth seeps out... just another under handed scheme to control what they lost, using the media to stir up the soup, just like the beltway crowd uses taxpayer $$$$ to beat their own drums....hopefully this effort will go down in flames faster than the Hindenburg ..

It would be NICE if the reporter for MLive Dave Murray or his editor M. Holland gave credit to ROJSNews for this lead because that's exactly were it came from. Also, it would be double proper for A2.com to publish, instead of hold our Op/Ed article given over two weeks ago on this subject. Since Ann Arbor.com and MLive work together now...wonder what happened here... Either way, ROJS News has done 5 months of work on this story. Let's just say Murray has less than half of this story. Regardless, 'borrowing' a part of this story without at least a byline to the bloggers who dug up the information, says a lot about the state of our news today!

Pick... I would too, if they originated the story be happy for them. At least they just referenced the article, the other reporter at MLive got a lead on, and wrote as if he knew the information. Guess it could be worse :(...

When a societys political system is more susceptible to manipulation by partisans than by the wisdom of those whose participation in society actually pays it's bills, then both the system and society are doomed. But be of good cheer, for it is those produces who actually pay the bills who will like Phoenix, rise from the ashes of the partisans who burned their own house. Chase Ingersoll

Be it the Republican, Democratic, Libertarian or any political party: they're like competing fire departments - all of them making claims about their ideal solutions to fire - and all of those claims are disproven on a regular basis. Of course Richard ("Rick") Dale Snyder is not likely to be interested in making more than a temporary and cosmetic improvement in Michigan's overall condition. The reason is that his party (and all parties) are far more interested in recruiting supporters, in gathering votes and campaign money. So manipulation of public opinion is his party's real business. We keep voting manipulating frauds into office: then wonder what went wrong (or concentrating on blaming everything on the office holders from the competing parties). Force honesty upon all the political parties and you'll force honest competition in making things better through good governance. Of course Snyder should be recalled: but so should all the governors and legislators and elected federal officials. NONE of them brings the results they promise.

They're already making excuses-- so that they can say it's what they wanted all along when they lose again? Pathetic.

This group has got a lot of press for not doing much? Now they have to try "bate and switch" I wonder why the President doesn't run on his record?

How could anyone run on that record?

If Julius Muller (Michigan Rising CEO) wants to effect change in government, he should vote his conscience. But he isn't a Michigan resident, or even an American citizen! Please send your donations to Michigan Rising so they can pay his salary, sell your information, and donate the rest to political action committees in other states.

to Mr Briegel - Google Fort Meyers and voter fraud. A very industrious REAL reporter went and correlated the forms of persons who excused themselves from Jury Duty by stating that they were not US citizens against the voter registration logs. He found approximately 100 people registered to vote that were not US citizens. Another video recently released shows a guy walking into a primary polling station in DC, and pretenting to be Eric Holder. They were going to let him vote, no questions asked, and when he asked if they needed him to prove who he was, they said - no, if that is who you say you are. There is widespread voter fraud going on right under our noses. And our federal justice dept is intent on keeping the states from enacting ID laws to attempt to prevent it. Amazing, you need an ID for almost every little thing in life, but to Vote - no that would be discriminatory? Want to board a plane - need an ID. Want to buy alcohol or cigarettes - need an ID. Want to open a bank account - need an ID.

What a silly comment! Voter Fraud is the most ridiculous charge. As if all those TeaPublicon Atty Gens across America approve of voter fraud. Yet when asked where it actually occurrs there is NO evidence. No charges. No convictions. Just TeaPublicon mythology! It sounds so quaint!!!

In Michigan, sure. But there is a re-call election for the Wisconsin governor in June. It's far fetched, but possible.

"...no state group has ever collected enough signatures to place a gubernatorial recall question on a ballot." Yet we continue to read about this as if it is the will of the people and so on ... I am happy they ran this story but its basically just a free ad for their efforts Item B in the annarbor.com recall media agenda 2.0
