Rain closes golf courses, grass areas at Pioneer to parking for Michigan-Notre Dame game
Soggy weather over the past few days promises to make parking for the University of Michigan-Notre Dame game in Ann Arbor today a bigger headache than anticipated.
Both the University of Michigan Golf Course and Ann Arbor Golf and Outing have closed their primary parking areas.
The grass areas at Pioneer High School -- known as the Purple Lot -- will also be off limits.
U-M will allow permit parking only at the course from the entrance off Stadium Boulevard, a notice on the MGoBlue.com, the university’s official athletic site said this morning. Entrances off Main Street and State Street will be closed, the notice said, and there will be no cash sales.
Officials at the nearby Ann Arbor Golf and Outing Club said Friday the course would be closed to public parking.
The closures mean thousands of fans who might normally park at the courses will have to find somewhere else, likely further away to leave their vehicles during the game.
The university offers suggestions for parking on its website. AATA offers shuttles from various locations around Ann Arbor. Find details here.

Well, I guess my son can now charge double his normal $15. This will not be good. I guess that Bo don't like night games. Or perhaps the uniforms. Or perhaps if the city would have gotten off of its butt and done something with the Stadium Bridge over the last 2 years instead of just throwing up some cones, none of this would have happened. Just tear the thing down already and put in a road. You're wasting our money and time!

I've noticed this morning that both of the private-owned lots on A2-Saline Road are parking cars today. One is across from Busch's. The other one is just south of there. Both lots are located on the west side of A2-Saline Road.

Glad I'll be at home watching on TV. When I was offered a couple of ticket packages by UM Athletics one was with the night game and I told my wife I wasn't interested then because with all the partying it would be a drunken mess. Now with the parking problem caused by the rain I'm really glad. But of course it's still Go Blue.
