I thought President Obama's speech was pragmaticm yet visionary. I give it 5 stars.

@antikvetch -- The wealthy may pay the most in INCOME taxes, but the poor and the working class pay the most in payroll taxes. It is extremely unrealistic to say that they don't pay "any" taxes.

I wish he would have said that all our soldiers would be home from Afghanistan by Christmas.

As the wealthy pay most the taxes, tax cuts by their very nature are for the wealthy. Hard to cut taxes for people who don't pay any -

I suppose the naysaying GOP would like more tax cuts for the wealthy and more money for the already outrageously overfunded defense budget. It's all well and good for people to bring up education, etc, neglecting the fact that the GOP has zero, nada, interest in spending more money on it. All the President's best efforts are always up against a GOP that knows one word - NO.

Yeah I like the Republicans ideas ....here we are suffering and needing more jobs....and they introduce a bill allowing guns in churches, bars and arenas. I guess they are worried about jobs...more lobbyists for the NRA.

An Obama campaign speech [that's all they really are, ya know] were somewhat interesting the first 200 times you heard them. They're getting pretty stale now. Crumble them up and mix them with some "Mrs Grass's Onion soup mix," a couple pounds of hamburger, a little milk, some ketchup, and an egg, and you can make a fine meatloaf.

Here we go again...lots of good ideas no doubt but as they always say, "actions are louder than words." Sorry to be a naysayer, but how many years have we been hearing about our public education system and the accountability, paying, and respect of our teachers?? Lots of promises Mr. Obama, sorry to be a non-believer.
