Power restored to some 200 customers in downtown Ann Arbor early this morning
Editor's note: The number of customers affected by the power outage has been corrected after DTE revised its original estimate.
An underground cable failure knocked out power for about 200 customers of DTE Energy in downtown Ann Arbor on Monday evening, and crews were able to restore service about 1:15 a.m. today, spokesman John Austerberry said.
Austerberry said there is no indication the power outage is related to the construction of an underground parking structure in the area.
Some 200 customers lost power about 7:20 p.m. on Monday, he said.
The outage encompassed portions of an area bounded roughly by South Main Street on the west, Huron Street on the north, Liberty Street on the south and State Street on the east, according to DTE's outage map.
The Downtown Development Authority is building an underground parking structure next to the Ann Arbor District Library between Fifth Avenue and Division Street.

And this person got paid to put this on the web A day late and about 2 bucks short Must be a real slow day @aa.copm I think aa.com needs to ask for a rebate on the reporting Then they can drop the rates they charge us to place an ad( in or on) the Web site Why would someone want to read my ad if the NEWS is a day late

AA, an earlier version of this story was posted last night while the power was still out. It was updated this morning at 6:27 a.m., as noted in the blue type of the headline. I can see the confusion, as the publication date was also changed when it was updated.

Is their a reason that Annarbor.com has to bring up the parking structure in almost every article I run a business downtown and no i don't like the additional costs that i have taken on from the closed streets and bad traffic but please tomorrow i expect to see that someone spilled their coffee on state street and it might have something to do with the parking structure. the power outage was a story when you achally know what caused it say it.

@ Stefan Blame the mayor, city council, and city administrator. It's got to be their fault. There is blame to be had for not posting police &/or temporary stop signs. At 8:15-8:30, I drove Liberty (& my son was on Huron) where traffic lights were not functioning... & zip, nothing.

At every intersection where the lights were out? Yeah, that's cost effective. Just treat the intersection as if it was a four-way stop. Anyone with a driver's license should be able to do that.
