Michigan State Police are asking for the public's help as they continue to investigate a crash that killed a Southgate woman on Interstate 94 in Ypsilanti Township last week.
Judy Mackenzie, 66, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Neon that rolled over in the median of the freeway, died from injuries suffered in the crash. It occurred in the westbound lanes near Rawsonville Road about 1:30 p.m. on April 25, police said.
Mackenzie was wearing a seat belt, according to state police.
The second vehicle in the crash was a silver 2013 Mitsubishi Galant driven by a 26-year-old woman from Melbourne, Fla. The woman, who also was wearing her seatbelt, suffered injuries in the crash and was treated at a local hospital, according to police. A 32-year-old California woman who was a passenger in the MItsubishi did not require medical attention. She was wearing her seatbelt, as well.
Police ask anyone who may have seen the crash to contact Trooper Amy Belanger at the Michigan State Police Brighton Post at 810-227-1051.
Police have not released the details of what happened to cause the crash.

What I'm wondering is, don't the two people from the other vehicle who survived have any clue what happened?

Paul, that's kind of what I thought when I asked my question.

Well its just their word of what happen, the other driver past away and can't give their side of what happen. Likely no other vehicles stop and explained what they saw, so now this.

Has the MSP said what they are looking for from witnesses? I guess I'm just curious if they think something doesn't add up with what they have already.

This makes me curious. If someone posted on this site that they witnessed this accident or another one (I don't think they did, but suppose it) using an alias, would Ann Arbor.com give the MSP their real identity? I have no idea why I wonder....I just wonder.

It might actually be "illegal" (civil...contract violation, etc) for them to provide your information without a warrant. I say might because their EULA might have contained weasel phrases in it to protect them as a lot of EULAs have.

We recommend that anyone that has information regarding a crime, accident, etc to always contact officials as soon as possible

I remember an accident last year on US 23. Police asked for information, wanted the public to help. Eventually, a suspect was found, but nothing was shared or brought to the attention of the public to bring closure. My point is, it might help to close the loop for people to feel like their information is valued and useful.

yeah I'd like to hear what they found out in that case. Did the two vehicles actually collide, or did she just merge into her lane in an unsafe manner.

belboz - I still have people ask me about that case. To my knowledge, there has been no resolution to the investigation.
