Pickup truck smashes into front porch of Ypsilanti home

A home in the 400 block of Emmet Street in Ypsilanti shows the damage left early this morning by a pickup truck that crashed through the porch.

A pickup truck crashed through the front porch of an Ypsilanti home early Sunday morning, knocking out support beams to the structure.

No one was injured when the Ford F-150 veered off the road in the 400 block of Emmet Street and lodged into the front of the home.

The crash scene just after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Ypsilanti police and firefighters responded to the accident scene around 2 a.m. Sunday as a crowd of neighbors gathered to watch.

While they were there, the homeowner returned, and officials helped shore up the porch with a temporary post, said fire Capt. Michelle Stanbury.

Ypsilanti police could not immediately be reached Sunday, and the cause of the crash was unclear.
