The helicopters are transported in the belly of a C-5 Galaxy or a C-17 Globemaster III. I just keeping thinking to myself, what a butt ton of money this country wastes on fuel and aircraft and maintenance and personnel to fly around our President (no matter who is President at the time, this isn't about partisan politics)! You have Air Force One (and the second AF One, there are two ready to go at all times) Fighters to accompany AF1 The C-5 and/or the C-17 (and there are a few of those as well) All of the limos and SUV's All of the helicopters that get taken along as well. Yesterday SIX helicopters were involved in the transport to and from the stadium, so that's that much more fuel, and you know there are not only six on the fleet, there are many more in the HMX-1 squardon [Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), is squadron based at Marine Corps Air Facility Quantico. They are responsible for the helicopter transportation of the President of the United States, Vice President, Cabinet members and VIPs.]. So think about it, everywhere our President goes, all of these planes and helicopters and vehicles and hundreds of personnel go with him. E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. That's a butt ton of $$$$$

I wonder how the helicopters got here? Did they fly or were they somehow transported in the belly of a plane?

I'm glad they used this route to get him in instead of closing I-94 between Metro and Ann Arbor. That would have been a fiasco, but also may have gotten us more road funding.
