The first day of school 2013 was greeted in most part by smiles on the faces of students across Washtenaw County. See some of the pictures captured by parents as they sent their children off to school to kick off the 2013-14 school year.

These are wonderful and put an otherwise rotten Tuesday (beginning with the commute) in perspective. I drove by an elementary school earlier and noticed that the kids were all wearing bright and new clothes on the playground. Children will sleep well tonight.

The picture of this little unhappy baby boy is sad. I wonder if he is going to preschool because he looks so very young.
