Board service skills seem to come naturally to candidate Deb Mexicotte

By Letters to the Editor

I strongly support the re-election of Deb Mexicotte to the Ann Arbor School Board. I urge others to vote for her, too.

Deb has a long-standing commitment to children. She was a volunteer in the schools prior to being elected to the Board of Education. Her Board service is a natural outgrowth of her fundamental values rather than a newfound activity. Her passion is children and education.

Deb is a proven manager of finances. Successful financial management is a critical component of Board service in these challenging financial times. She is a manager in the University of Michigan as well as a long-time leader on the Board of Education.

Deb is a proven, experienced leader who is currently president of the Board. She effectively facilitates processes that lead Board members to arrive at compromises that reflect accurately the diverse interests and values in our community. Our students need leaders such as Deb on the Board to keep decision processes focused on children and to forestall the gridlock that is so common in political processes.

I whole-heartedly endorse Deb Mexicotte for re-election on Nov. 6.

"Her Board service is a natural outgrowth of her fundamental values rather than a newfound activity" Well said. Tough times, tough finances, ridiculouse dictates from Lansing and beyond. Not the fault of the BOE, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
