Workers on Monday removed Borders signage from its flagship store on East Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor.
The owners of the building are donating the letters to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation for the purpose of raising funds.
The letters are believed to be some of the last remaining Borders signage, as many other locations have been stripped since the bookseller's bankruptcy.
Read more about the letters in this previous AnnArbor story: 'Borders' signs to be removed from downtown Ann Arbor store on Monday

If you're going to write a story about this signage - SOME mention of the progress toward a new tenant of this very important downtown space would be worth mentioning. Even if there's been no development since...?...that would be very helpful to know. I'm more interested in what happens with that retail space than I am interested in the letters hanging (or not hanging off of it).

This is further evidence that when even the most trivial of acts occurs within walking distance of a2.com whq, it is deemed to be newsworthy.

A toast to the once was Borders. May she rest in peace. Going to miss Borders. I hate Barnes and Noble.

Someone should head to the old location in Dearborn on Ford Road. Not only are the letters still on the east side of building, they still light up at night (all except for the ampersand between "books" and "music")
