President Barack Obama this week nominated a former University of Michigan dean to serve as second in command of the U.S. Commerce Department.

Rebecca Blank, who served as dean at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy from 1999 to 2007, serves as the acting deputy secretary of commerce.

The appointment, which must be approved by the U.S. Senate, would make that post official.

Blank has worked for the Clinton administration and served as the top economist at the commerce department. She was also the co-director of U-M's National Poverty Center.

Take a look at her resume here.

Hey Xmo, look at her CV. Beats Bush appointing the horse guy to head FEMA.

I guess the most important experience she has is "She was also the co-director of U-M's National Poverty Center" This gives her a step up on other candidates as second in command of the U.S. Commerce Department which could change it name to U.S. National Poverty Department

Specifically, which policies of the Obama admin have caused more poverty?
