New Ypsilanti High School principal speaks about improving school's image, future goals

By Kyle Feldscher

New Ypsilanti High School principal Rob Belous says he intends to improve the school's image by celebrating its successes and building on the school's strengths, according to a report in The Ypsilanti Courier.

The Courier held a question-and-answer session with Belous covering topics such as his background, his goals for the high school and how he plans on handling decreases in state funding.

Belous began working in the district in late June and will lead the high school through a redesign process that will see YHS split into two different academies, Global Leadership and Public Policy Academy and the Improvisational Academy of the Arts.

Belous is a former educational consultant with APEX Learning and has held a number of previous principal and assistant principal positions.

I'm pretty sure the mascot change was to be politically correct (because being a Brave is "offensive"), not to show an improved image of the school. Especially seeing as the school became much worse off after changing the mascot.
