National Weather Service activates blizzard warning for Washtenaw County; projected snowfall total reduced
A blizzard warning is now in effect for Washtenaw County until 8 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service announced at 4:21 p.m.
The warning had earlier been scheduled to take effect at 7 p.m. but was activated early.
The good news: The warning is now scheduled to expire at 8 a.m. Wednesday instead of 7 p.m., as forecasters originally said. Projected snow totals have also been revised downward to 7 to 12 inches. Earlier predictions had been for 12-13 inches.
Snow is expected to begin within the next couple of hours said meteorologist Amos Dodson with the National Weather Service in White Lake Township.

7-12" is still a significant and potentially crippling amount of snow. Stay home.

This is good news that the prediction is for a less severe blizzard. The warning of 40 MPH winds remains in effect however. So does the zero degree projected wind chill.
