More warmth on tap for Ann Arbor; severe weather possible

By Cindy Heflin

Warm temperatures will continue in the Ann Arbor area Thursday, bringing with them a slight threat of severe weather.

Thunderstorms are possible Wednesday night and Thursday and there’s a slight chance some will become severe, the National Weather Service says. Thursday night storms carry the potential of hail up to an inch in diameter and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph.

After reaching a high in the low 80s Wednesday, temperatures are expected to climb to about 85 Thursday afternoon under partly sunny skies. The chance of rain is 30 percent.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected to linger Friday under mostly cloudy skies. A high of 77 is expected.

Saturday looks to be nearly perfect for outdoor activities with a high of 71 and partly sunny skies, though some thunderstorms are possible, the weather service says. Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high of 69.

The city of Ann Arbor should pass an ordinance forbidding severe weather in any of its parks.
