Man robbed on Catherine Street in Ypsilanti
An Ypsilanti man was punched in the head and robbed Monday night near the intersection of Catherine and Chidester streets, an Ypsilanti police news release said.
The 19-year-old victim was walking west on Catherine Street about 10:45 p.m. when a car pulled up, and a man inside demanded money, the release said.
According to the release, the victim attempted to pull out a pocket knife to defend himself when he was punched in the head and fell to the ground. The attacker went through the victim's pockets, taking his wallet and knife, the release said.
The victim walked to a nearby apartment complex and called police. He had a bump on his head from the assault, but refused medical attention, the release said.
The attacker was described as black, between 6 feet 1 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds, in his late 20s and was wearing a gray shirt and black pants.
