Joseph White found himself at the center of controversy following a series of investigative reports by the Chicago Tribune this summer that revealed how many higher-ups at the university admitted politically connected students over those who were more qualified.
Before his time at U of I, White served as dean of U-M's Stephen M. Ross School of Business from 1991 to 2001, and as interim president at U-M in 2002.
