Is it just me, or does the 8th picture in with the clown shooting water look a bit, ummm...unusual?

This was the most UnAmerican parade ever. How was not 1 branch of the military represented in the parade?

"The 4th of July is about American soldiers risking their life and freedom to maintain ours." That feels like a very narrow view of what the 4th of July is. In fact, I think you are describing Memorial Day better than the 4th. I see it as a celebration of our country on the day we signed the Declaration of Independence. In that celebration, I see part of it being about our soldiers, yes. I also see it about living in an American community (kids on bikes) and about democracy (local democracy handing out pamphlets).

and you know what Jack, I'm not a vet, but my grandfathers fought damn hard for this country to have the freedom we have today. I don't know what me not being a vet has to do with the fact that not 1 branch was represented in the parade yesterday. like i said earlier, we could have done without the 300 kids on bikes, and campaign harassment flyers being handed out. The 4th of July is about American soldiers risking their life and freedom to maintain ours. it appalls me that everyone on this post has been fighting me about the truth, the truth being where were the American soldiers who made it possible that we could sit on our streets with comfortableness to watch such events. You're all sick.

What do you mean they just couldn't make it? We have hundreds of thousands of troops and vets in this country and this is the first parade I've ever been to where not one was represented. Have any of you ever been to a real 4th of July Parade before? Seriously get a clue.

Are you a vet Don? Because I am and I know for a fact that ALL branches were invited. Nothing unAmerican about it, they just couldn't make it.

Cause they didn't show? Looked pretty American to me. The military was invited. Stop complaining.

Instead of whining about it and stomping your feet, Don...maybe you can volunteer to spearhead the effort to get some "troops" or veterans to march with flags. What would the veterans think of your foot stomping and threatening to quit and take your ball home. Not much.

School bands are hard to get - one because the students are on vacation and two there are many many parades.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Again... EVERYONE is welcome to participate and we contact many many organizations.

The military should send a representative. They'd certainly be welcome. Although with about 10,000 small town parades in the US on the 4th, maybe local is easier to budget and arrange. I'd also like to see the Michigan Marching Band or at least a reduced summer term version of it.

I like how I was voted down when I said the exact same thing. America is here because of our Soldiers and not 1 was represented. Could have done without the 300 kids on bikes and campaign harassment, I will never attend an A2 parade or suggest the parade to anyone, ever! This city should be disgusted with todays performance.

Looks pretty American to me, despite the lack of soldiers. I only wish the antiwar movement had a float in the parade with the slogan "Bring the Troops Home Now" hugely, proudly displayed, followed closely by a large contingent of members of Iraq Vets Against the War (IVAW) and Vets for Peace.
