Health care reform panel to speak at University of Michigan today
Want a chance to hear about the impact the national health care legislation passed Sunday could have on you? How about understanding what's going on at the state level?
The University of Michigan is hosting an event, "Health care reform at the state vs. national level: Tradeoffs and tipping points," at the U-M Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy today.
The event will be held at 4 p.m. at the Annenberg Auditorium, 1120 Weill Hall, 735 South State Street.
Panelists will address topics like the rapid expansion of health costs, the uninsured and underinsured, and how it affects public programs.
Those set to speak at the event include: Thomas Buchmuller, professor of business economics and public policy at U-M's Stephen M. Ross School of Business; Joe Schwartz, former U.S. representative and visiting lecturer at the school of public policy; and Marianne Udow-Phillips, director of the Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation.
It will be moderated by Matt Davis, associate professor of the U-M Medical School and the public policy school.
The event is free and open to the public.

Are these speakers people that supported the reform? Did they oppose it? Or are they neutral? I think I'd rather hear from experts without an agenda.

Health care does not start until 2014, the taxes start now, so what's the rush?
